The Tuscany Region has approved a new measure to boost animal welfare, offering capital grants to livestock farmers to improve animal conditions beyond current standards. The call, part of the Giovanisì project and the 2023-2027 Rural Development Complement, has €3 million in EU funds.
Tuscan livestock farmers will be able to access funding for both tangible and intangible investments aimed at improving biosecurity, housing conditions and animal management, including innovations for more sustainable and ethical management. Grants will cover up to 80 percent of expenses, rising to 85 percent for young farmers and small farms.
This initiative aims to position Tuscany among the leading regions in Italy for animal welfare, improving the quality of livestock production, the environment and consumer safety.
