The City Council of Scansano has recently adopted a significant measure to promote the commercial development and the revival of its historic centers. By approving the elimination of charges for the use of premises and funds for commercial, craft and service activities, the administration led by the mayor Maria Bice Ginesi has opened the way to a new scenario for local entrepreneurs.
The decision of the Municipality, applicable both in the historic centers of Scansano and Montorgiali in all other towns of the municipality, means that owners who intend to transform a property in a store will no longer have to bear the charges previously provided. This results in a concrete incentive for the opening of new stores or the transfer of existing businesses, thus helping to revive the local commercial fabric.
The news was welcomed by Gabriella Orlando, director of Confcommercio Grosseto, who stressed the importance of the municipal initiative in promoting the regeneration of neighborhoods and villages through the presence of quality commercial activities. Orlando has moreover evidenced the alignment of this move with the plan “Cities”, to which Confcommercio is engaged with determination, inviting the associates interested to take contact with the offices in order to obtain ulterior information.
At a time when the economic vitality of historic centers is a priority for many communities, The Scansano initiative is an example of how local policies can be geared towards supporting entrepreneurship and fostering economic growth at local level.
