By Decree No. 22724 of 19-10-2023, the Agriculture and Rural Development Directorate of the Tuscany Region approved the implementation call of the National Plan for Recovery and Resilience (PNRR) – Mission 2 Component 1 (M2C1) – Investment 2.3 – Innovation And Mechanization In The Agricultural And Food Sector “Replacement /Modernization of Olive Oil Mills.” This notice is issued to implement the national framework notice, concerning the criteria and modalities for the granting and disbursement of aid for the replacement/modernization of oil mills in implementation of the NRP. The intervention is aimed at encouraging the replacement/modernization of extra virgin olive oil processing, storage and packaging facilities, with the objective of improving the sustainability of the production process, reducing the generation of waste and encouraging its reuse for energy purposes. Through the call for proposals, non-repayable grants are granted to encourage the replacement/modernization of existing olive mills, including through the introduction of machinery and technologies that improve the environmental performance of extra virgin olive oil extraction activities. The renewal of technological equipment is also aimed at improving the quality of oils and a general increase in the sustainability of the olive-oil supply chain.
