According to data from the chamber of commerce system, 71 new agricultural enterprises were born in the Maremma during 2019-2022 (+15.1%).
Coldiretti Grosseto Giovani Impresa delegate Simone Parrucci said that agricultural activity needs investment in essential services and digital infrastructure, as well as improved access to credit and land capital.
Currently, there are 542 agricultural enterprises under 35 registered in the province of Grosseto. This is in line with the values of the Tuscany region, which has the largest number of agricultural enterprises nationwide, or 28.4 percent of the total (1,230). Many of these enterprises have developed related businesses in parallel, such as agritourism activities, alternative energy production, or product processing.
Within the next three years, about 600 agricultural entrepreneurs will be between the ages of 60 and 64 and eligible for retirement; therefore, there is a need to accelerate the generational transition.
